Sweet Potatoes are a great addition to the not-so-vegetable-oriented eater's diet. It is well, deliciously sweet, and can be cooked by simply poking a few holes in it with a fork and throwing it in the microwave for 6 or 7 minutes.
When it comes out, all you have to do is add a little butter, salt, and pepper. It is a wonderful addition to a grilled steak or chicken breast. One can also drizzle it with brown sugar and a little Vermont Maple syrup instead which is a scrumptious snack. Sweet potatoes are great additions to a variety of soups and they go well paired with basically any meat, especially turkey.
Sweet potatoes, compared to their more popular brother, white potatoes, are an all-around health food (white potatoes are very high in starch and may cause insulin-dependency, which causes chronic fatigue and diabetes). Sweet potatoes, are packed with carbs that keep one full for hours while at the same time pushing themselves through your system with loads of fiber.
Sweet potatoes are also fat-free. Carrots are known for their beta-carotene content, but sweet potatoes have just as much. They are also noted by scientists as being particularly good for those with inflammatory illnesses such as arthritis or asthma.
